History:
The car was sold new in 1968 to a Mrs Fay Wilson, in Welwyn Garden City. She owned the Mini for 10 years, and covered 71,000 miles during her ownership.
The car is now showing only 72,400 which means since she sold the car in 1978, this little Mini has covered only 1,400 miles.
Incredibly, we are located only 20 minuets away from where the car was sold new.
After tracking down the original address, we decided to send the house a letter, stating we had acquired this Mini which, in 1968, was sold new to Mrs Wilson at this very address.
Our intentions were to take a photo of the Mini outside its original home, which we thought would a charming addition to the history file.
Five days after sending the letter we received a phone call from a gentleman, who said to us the letter was fascinating, but also, slightly sad.
He went on to say if we had got in contact with the house only four months earlier, we would of had the privilege to speak to Mrs F Wilson’s husband, but he sadly passed away.
The new home owner was very keen to have the car photographed outside the house as he is also a huge classic car enthusiast. Pictures of this magic moment are in the history file.
The car was then sold to a Mr Alan Gude in 1978 who owned the car for a further 34 years and covering only 1000 Miles in that time.
In 2012 the car was uncovered as an unmolested bard find by a Mr Martin Harvey who then sold on the project to Mr David Maskell in early 2015, who began the restoration process.
Since then this Mini has undergone a full period correct restoration. No expense spared with over £25,000 worth of invoices for parts alone. This figure does not include the purchase of the car, or labour.
This Mini has been fully checked over, serviced by our workshop and is ready for the British country lanes. Drive a part of history.
